Oceans Healthcare is growing behavioral health in Jackson with a new 77-bed hospital that includes inpatient adult/senior services and an intensive outpatient program. Want to work for this innovative healthcare movement?

About the Role:

The Ward Clerk is also responsible for organizing the nursing station’s activities and for coordinating this, as well as administrative work communication with other nurses efficiently. This position includes communication, documentation, and facilitating hospital personnel activities in order to meet Joint Commission, Federal and State guidelines and expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Urge the unit receptionist and ensure that you answer and reroute all calls effectively.
• Support admissions by working with the business and admitting departments.
• Keep and sort patients records, take daily census, and prepare any reports if required on a monthly basis.
• Meet visitors and patients politely and with a patient and professional attitude.
• Ordering of patient care and specific paperwork, including physician’s orders for the patient, processing of lab requisition, discharging, and transferring patients.
• Periodically help carry patients or perform minor medical tasks.
• Complete other tasks that may be tasked on him or her.

Requirements:

• High school diploma and/or GED preferred.
• One plus year of experience in an inpatient psychiatric setting is preferred.
• Fluency to read, write, and comprehend and follow directions or instructions given.
• Interpersonal skills: the ability to work with the diverse population.
• Should be healthy with good empathy, integrity, and professionalism.
• Employment is necessary with applicable certification in CPR and an approved behavioural health de-escalation program.

Work Environment:

It is fast-paced and characterised by significant volatility that needed strength in order to function effectively and properly.
Patients may exhibit unpleasant odors, sights or the patient may be aggressive at some time.
Mostly office-related jobs with episodic fluctuation in temperature.
