About the Role
We’re seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to lead the development of our next-gen Entity Resolution API—a key component that powers identity linking through intelligent graph-based and real-time search capabilities. You’ll architect and build high-performance APIs, manage data pipelines at scale, and collaborate with teams across engineering, data science, and infrastructure.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Design, build, and maintain cloud-native backend services for entity resolution using modern frameworks and best practices.
- Develop real-time and batch data pipelines with tools like Kafka, SQS, and Spark to populate search indexes.
- Work with ElasticSearch or Vespa to create and optimize low-latency, high-throughput search systems.
- Collaborate with data scientists to integrate and deploy ranking models that enhance search result accuracy.
- Own the full lifecycle of applications deployed via Kubernetes, including CI/CD, observability, and scalability.
- Lead system architecture discussions, performance tuning, and debugging in a high-scale distributed environment.
- Drive backend design for systems involving model inference, SQL/NoSQL, and graph databases.
What We’re Looking For
- 8+ years of backend engineering experience, with 1+ years in a technical leadership or staff/principal role.
- Proven expertise with ElasticSearch or Vespa, especially in query optimization and deployment at scale.
- Hands-on experience with AWS services like S3, Lambda, Kafka, and SQS.
- Strong skills in backend languages like Java, Scala, Go, or Python.
- Deep knowledge of Kubernetes-based deployment, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud infrastructure.
- Experience integrating machine learning models into production systems (ranking, classification, etc.).
- Comfortable working with SQL, NoSQL, and Graph databases.
Nice to Have
- Background in knowledge graphs, identity systems, or entity resolution.
- Experience with GraphQL APIs, real-time event frameworks, or Apache Beam/Spark Streaming.
- Understanding of data privacy, security, or compliance in fintech or identity verification domains.
