Cytogenetics Analyst – US

Role Overview:

Labcorp is looking for a dedicated Cytogenetics Analyst to join their remote oncology cytogenetics team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in laboratory diagnostics, especially chromosomal analysis, who thrives in a focused, detail-oriented, and quality-driven environment.

You’ll contribute to meaningful work in cancer diagnostics, analyzing chromosomes, performing karyotyping, and ensuring accurate, timely lab results—all from the comfort of your HIPAA-compliant home office.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Analyze and interpret cytogenetic specimens, including metaphase spread imaging and karyotyping.
  • Report diagnostic results using ISCN nomenclature with precision and clarity.
  • Operate and troubleshoot laboratory software, systems, and imaging tools.
  • Perform both routine and complex lab tests according to standardized protocols.
  • Ensure compliance with lab safety policies and company procedures.
  • Collaborate with other lab professionals to support high-quality patient care.
  • Keep detailed records of test outcomes and corrective actions when needed.
  • Identify abnormalities and differentiate from normal chromosomal patterns.

Who You Are – Skills & Requirements:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Biological or Chemical Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology (or equivalent under CLIA/state requirements).
  • Minimum of 1 year of clinical lab testing experience, OR a bachelor’s degree in Cytogenetics or Medical Laboratory Science (MLS).
  • Hands-on experience in Oncology Cytogenetics is highly desirable.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified in Cytogenetics by ASCP (CG-ASCP).
  • Familiarity with imaging software used in chromosome analysis.
  • Strong computer literacy; lab information systems experience is a plus.
  • Ability to distinguish complex chromosomal abnormalities accurately.
  • Must pass a standardized color vision test.

Remote Work Requirements:

  • Dedicated home office space (private, HIPAA-compliant).
  • Reliable internet connection (minimum 100 Mbps).
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, multi-site virtual team environment.
