Motor Vehicle Operator – ( NPS )

Position Summary

The National Park Service is currently hiring a Motor Vehicle Operator for Grand Teton National Park. This role is essential in ensuring safe and reliable transportation of passengers, materials, and supplies throughout the park. You’ll operate various types of government vehicles, often in challenging terrain and weather, while upholding federal safety standards.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

As a Motor Vehicle Operator, your key tasks will include:

  • Vehicle Operation: Safely operate sedans, pickup trucks, vans, and larger vehicles to transport personnel, tools, and supplies within the park and surrounding areas.
  • Loading & Securing Cargo: Load and unload materials, equipment, and supplies, ensuring secure transport to avoid damage or safety risks.
  • Passenger Transport: Drive park staff, volunteers, and sometimes visitors to designated locations.
  • Vehicle Care: Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections, reporting any maintenance issues to the supervisor.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow all traffic laws, park regulations, and Department of the Interior vehicle operation policies.
  • Operational Support: Assist with seasonal operations, emergency transport, and logistical support for park events or maintenance projects.

Required Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This position requires:

  • Extended periods of driving.
  • Frequent lifting, loading, and unloading of cargo.
  • Work in outdoor environments with potential exposure to extreme weather, wildlife, and remote locations.
  • Occasional irregular schedules depending on operational needs.

Salary and Benefits

  • Hourly Pay: $28.84 – $33.63 (based on experience and qualifications)
