Position Summary:
The U.S. Army at Fort Sill is hiring Police Officers to help maintain safety and enforce federal laws across military installations. In this role, you’ll provide law enforcement, emergency response, and protective services in support of military personnel, their families, and federal property. This is a critical public safety position that involves both proactive patrol and emergency interventions.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Enforce federal, state, and local laws within the boundaries of the military installation
- Conduct vehicle and foot patrols to deter and detect suspicious or criminal activity
- Respond to emergency calls involving crimes in progress, accidents, or disturbances
- Secure crime scenes, gather evidence, and complete official incident reports
- Apprehend and detain suspects, ensuring proper procedures and rights are followed
- Provide security during events, high-profile visits, or sensitive operations
- Control traffic, issue citations, and manage access to restricted areas
- Support investigations by preserving evidence, conducting interviews, and testifying in court

Key Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship is mandatory
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) background investigation
- Pass a pre-employment physical examination, urinalysis drug screening, and ongoing medical assessments
- Successfully complete a designated law enforcement training program within one year of entry
- Must meet firearms proficiency and qualify annually under Army standards
- Possess a valid driver’s license
- Subject to random drug testing and potential shift changes based on mission needs
- Required to wear a uniform and adhere to grooming and appearance standards
Qualifications:
To qualify at the GS-06 level, you must meet the following:
- Have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level. This includes experience in patrolling, conducting investigations, responding to emergency calls, and applying police procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to interact with civilians and military personnel, operate emergency vehicles, and complete incident reports.
- Experience in using law enforcement tools such as breathalyzers, handcuffs, radios, firearms, and body armor.
- Completion of law enforcement certification training from a recognized program or academy is required within the first year.
Important Note:
Training must meet the standards established by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and Department of Defense (DoD).
Physical & Medical Standards:
- Must be physically able to perform rigorous duties such as running, standing for long hours, and restraining individuals.
- Vision and hearing must meet minimum law enforcement standards.
- Will be required to wear protective gear and operate under high-stress conditions.
Education:
No specific education is required for this position. However, relevant coursework in criminal justice, law enforcement, or homeland security may strengthen your application.
