What You’ll Be Doing
As part of the emergency care team, you’ll manage patients with acute, life-threatening conditions. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Rapidly assessing patients in urgent medical situations
- Delivering timely, evidence-based nursing care
- Administering medication, fluids, and critical interventions
- Participating in Code Blue and trauma response efforts
- Coordinating with physicians, respiratory therapists, and social workers
- Ensuring detailed, accurate documentation in the VA’s electronic health system
- Supporting patient families with compassion and clear communication
- Staying prepared for disaster events and large-scale emergencies
Who We’re Looking For
This role is ideal for a confident, experienced RN who can thrive in high-pressure environments. You should have strong clinical judgment, quick decision-making skills, and a desire to serve a diverse patient population with dignity and empathy.
Eligibility Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship (mandatory for federal roles)
- Active, unrestricted RN license from any U.S. state or territory
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Ability to pass background checks and health screenings
- Physically able to meet job demands, including long hours and shift rotations
Preferred Experience
- 1+ year of hands-on nursing experience in emergency or critical care settings
- Experience working within a federal hospital or with veterans is a plus
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
