About the Role
Samsara, the global leader and pioneer of the Connected Operations Cloud, is seeking a Senior Accountant – Financial Reporting to join our finance team. This fully remote position is open to highly skilled candidates based anywhere in Canada.
In this role, you will play a critical part in driving the company’s SEC financial reporting processes, equity award accounting, and compliance with US GAAP. You will prepare and review financial statements, work closely with auditors, ensure accurate filings, and enhance financial reporting processes. Your work will directly influence Samsara’s operational transparency and investor confidence, making this a high-impact position in a hyper-growth technology company.
Our ideal candidate is a CPA-certified accountant with strong technical expertise, a deep understanding of ASC 718 principles, and a proven track record in both public company and public accounting firm environments. Key Responsibilities
As the Senior Accountant – Financial Reporting, your duties will include:
- Financial Statement Preparation: Prepare accurate and timely quarterly and annual financial statements in compliance with US GAAP.
- Equity Award Accounting: Manage and apply ASC 718 principles to equity-based compensation.
- Audit Coordination: Serve as the main liaison with external auditors during quarterly reviews and year-end audits.
- SEC Reporting: Oversee SEC financial reporting, including 10-K, 10-Q, and other regulatory filings.
- Process Improvements: Identify and implement scalable solutions to improve financial reporting efficiency.
- Compliance Management: Ensure full adherence to SOX controls and internal audit requirements.
- Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams including Legal, HR, and Operations to resolve accounting issues.
- Technology Use: Utilize reporting tools like Workiva SEC Reporting Solution, iXBRL review, NetSuite, and Schwab EquiView.
Qualifications & Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (CPA designation required).
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in financial reporting.
- Public Company Background: At least 1 year of experience in a public company or public accounting firm.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of US GAAP, SOX compliance, and ASC 718.
- Software Skills: Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; experience with NetSuite, Workiva, and/or Schwab EquiView is preferred.
- Industry Knowledge: Experience in technology and IPO environments is a plus.
- Soft Skills: Strong initiative, analytical thinking, attention to detail, and exceptional organizational skills.
- Mindset: Self-starter with a ‘can do’ attitude and the ability to meet strict deadlines.
