About the Role:
Synapticure is seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented, and empathetic Telehealth Medical Assistant to support our remote neurology team. In this role, you’ll be a critical part of the patient journey — ensuring medical records are in place, authorizations are completed, referrals are processed, and patients feel welcomed and supported in every step of their care experience.
You won’t just be completing tasks; you’ll be advocating for patients, building connections with families, and helping ensure that every individual receives timely, high-quality virtual care.

Key Responsibilities:
Patient Interaction & Prep
- Virtually greet patients before their telehealth appointments and ensure they’re ready for their visit.
- Serve as a friendly, knowledgeable contact for patients navigating complex care needs.
Medical Records & Documentation
- Retrieve, organize, and review medical records from multiple sources.
- Ensure complete, accurate documentation in patient records.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA and privacy standards at all times.
Care Coordination & Referrals
- Manage and track referrals to specialists.
- Coordinate with external providers and medical partners.
- Ensure smooth transitions and timely care for patients across networks.
Administrative & Clinical Support
- Process prior authorizations and insurance paperwork.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and care coordinators to streamline workflows.
- Support day-to-day operations by following clinical protocols and documenting all actions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with internal teams including operations, behavioral health, and customer experience.
- Represent Synapticure professionally and clearly in all communications with partners and patients.
- Share insights and feedback to help improve workflows and patient outcomes.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Active Medical Assistant Certification
- At least 2 years of professional experience working as a medical assistant (in-person or remote)
- Strong understanding of patient privacy, HIPAA compliance, and medical documentation
- Proven experience managing and reviewing medical records and prior authorizations
- Experience coordinating referrals in a clinical or telehealth setting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong tech skills — comfortable using virtual care platforms, EMRs, and workflow tools
- Self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently in a remote environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (highly desirable)
- Experience in a startup or high-growth healthcare environment
- Familiarity with neurodegenerative diseases or chronic care coordination
- Ability to multitask effectively while maintaining attention to detail
- A genuine passion for helping others and working with vulnerable patient populations
