About the Job

Norway is one of the world leaders in tunnel construction, with hundreds of kilometers of road and railway tunnels already built. Several major construction companies in Norway are now hiring Tunnel Workers for upcoming road, railway, and hydroelectric tunnel projects.

Tunnel Workers play a critical role in the safe and efficient completion of these underground structures. This is a physically demanding but rewarding job that offers international-level experience, competitive pay, and long-term career growth in infrastructure development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting in drilling and blasting operations inside the tunnel.
  • Supporting heavy machinery operators such as excavators, loaders, and drill rigs.
  • Transporting and installing tunnel supports, steel arches, and lining systems.
  • Preparing and applying shotcrete (concrete spraying) for tunnel walls.
  • Ensuring ventilation and safety systems inside the tunnel are functioning.
  • Carrying out general labor tasks, such as cleaning, lifting, and material handling.
  • Following strict safety protocols to prevent accidents in confined spaces.
  • Reporting to site supervisors and engineers on daily tasks and progress.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical Diploma in Construction / Civil Engineering / Mining is preferred.
  • Previous experience in tunneling, mining, or heavy construction projects is highly desirable.
  • Must be physically fit to work in confined and underground environments.
  • Ability to work in rotating shifts (day/night).
  • Basic English communication is mandatory (Norwegian language is a strong advantage).
  • Safety training certification (e.g., confined space, first aid) is a plus.

Salary & Compensation

  • Base Salary: NOK 20,000 – 28,000 per month (approx. €1,700 – €2,400), depending on experience and project.
  • Overtime Pay: Provided as per Norwegian labor laws.
  • Shift Allowance: Extra pay for night and weekend shifts.
  • Bonuses: Possible performance-based or project completion bonus.

  • Standard shifts are 8–10 hours per day, 5–6 days a week, with overtime possible.
  • Projects are spread across Norway, including Oslo, Bergen, Stavanger, and northern regions.
